Christmas Decorations

We seem to be late with everything this year - but we did finally get (most) of our Christmas decorations up.  :)  Every year a very similar thing occurs.... I look at the calendar, realize it is “time” to do all the “Christmas stuff” and feel like it is just one more thing to be added to the “to do” list.  Then, we finally pull out the tree, put on some of our favorite Christmas music and start in with the decorating.  One by one we pull out the decorations and ornaments and “ooh and aah” over each one - remembering who gave each to us, who made them, remembering past celebrations.... and BAM!... I am in the Christmas spirit!!!  :)  This year was no different.  :)  It is always so special to revisit the memories from previous years and to share the same old stories with the boys about each one.  They don’t even seem to mind hearing the same things year after year!  This year we had a new ornament to “ooh and aah” over.  I participated in an ornament exchange with some online friends and received this lovely snowman from a “fellow Laura”, Laura in PA.  Isn’t it cute?

This year the boys really took over the decorating.  They did just about everything - and they did a fantastic job.  It was super important to them to make all the decisions about where everything should go - and I didn’t have the heart to re-arrange any of it.  This is a good thing for me.... I tend to have strong opinions about each item having its correct place. (understatement??)  :)  So, letting go of that control and allowing them to do as they chose was a big gift to them and a good lesson for me.  Plus, it was fun to see how they arranged everything.  :)  Here are some of the pictures.
