We enjoyed a snow/ice day at Grandma’s house where she led the kids in a fantastic Geology
lesson. They made triple decker sandwiches using chunky peanut butter, apple jelly and grape
jelly for the layers between the bread slices. They then did a number of hands on activities to
demonstrate landforms and how the layers of the earth move, erode, etc through earthquakes,
volcanoes, water erosion and more. They finished the hands on lesson by looking through lots of
photos Grandma and Grandpa took on their most recent trip out west - identifying different
landforms and studying the geology represented in the photos. They then each made a poster -
aren’t they wonderful?
