Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library and Museum

We spent this past weekend in Springfield, Illinois visiting family (more on that in another post) and we took the opportunity to visit the Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library and Museum.  Wow!  What a wonderful place this is!  I highly recommend visiting this museum.  It is well worth even a special trip to Springfield, Illinois.  You take a walking tour through Abraham Lincoln’s life - from his boyhood home in a log cabin through his White House years, the Civil War and, of course, his assassination.  What a powerful journey.  The museum is quite well done and many segments left me feeling on the verge of tears.  Yes, that is still an endorsement for going to visit - perhaps the greatest one.   This museum not only educates you, it touches your heart in a visceral way.  If you ever get a chance, definitely make plans to visit.
