The family reunion was a special time for all of us to get
together and we enjoyed it thoroughly. The weather was cold
and rainy and I am afraid that Aunt Aleta about froze to death! Although it was unseasonably cool for the midwest, it was
downright COLD for anyone from Mississippi! :) Luckily,
Mom brought an extra coat along for Aleta to wear. She wore it
constantly.... literally right up until she climbed in their camper
to head back home. :)
One very special part of the reunion was the opportunity to celebrate with Uncle Dale and Aunt Joyce on the occasion of their 50th wedding anniversary. Cousins Lyn and Stacy planned a surprise celebration for them. They ended up letting Uncle Dale in on the surprise, but Aunt Joyce knew nothing until the very end. It was a lovely surprise and a lovely evening. Lyn and Stacy did so much work to get it all set up and we all had a terrific time.
After the party we hung out around the campfire. It was a beautiful evening.
Sunday morning we gathered at the campground for a big sendoff breakfast. Uncle Charlie made yummy eggs n’ sausage and eggs n’ ham. Then good byes were said and we packed up and headed home. What a wonderful weekend with many great new memories made. You can read about Aleta, Dale and Sue’s reminiscing in the next post.
