Carpet!

Well, our basement room remodel is almost complete. All that remains is to put up baseboard trim. Some day we might even get around to doing that. :) The main thing we were waiting for was to have our carpet laid. I won’t get into the whole frustrating account except to say that I never dreamed it would be so difficult to get a company to actually place the ORDER for your carpet! We keep hearing about companies going out of business for lack of customers and here we were with payment ready just BEGGING them to order it! Unbelievable.

Our first goal of having carpet in place by the Christmas party came and went... but we finally got it laid on Sunday night, Dec. 21. They didn’t even get to our house until almost 7:00 pm that night (they ran late on their earlier job... 2 jobs scheduled for these poor guys on the Sunday before Christmas??) and they didn’t leave our house until 1:00 am Monday morning. I don’t know who I felt sorrier for, us or the carpet layers. Actually, I do know... the poor carpet layers! We didn’t expect them to come on a Sunday ourselves but got the call from the head guy saying that was when he had them scheduled and would that be okay with us. It was, but we sure felt sorry for the workers.

We have truly enjoyed the ‘finished’ basement over the holidays with the cousins all here. It is a great spot for watching movies as a family and the kids enjoy it as a hang out spot all their own.

You can see from the messy pictures how much they have enjoyed it. Actually, perhaps you can’t... it appears that I cut out the worst of the mess with my camera angle. :) Oh well... I am sure you can imagine!!
