Another Basement update

I haven't given a basement update since our old blog went down... there has been a lot of progress since then!  Marvin got the framing done for the new room (with Jackson's help - I am being reminded to mention!)  But then we took a good hard look and decided to be wise and hire someone else to come in and do the sheetrock and mudding, etc.  Boy, am I ever glad we did that!!  (Maybe not as glad as Marvin, but glad!)  :)  We found out that an old friend does sheetrock and he was available to come and start work.  Marvin worked with him and they were able to get a tremendous amount of work done in a short amount of time.  Very impressive!  We are now to the point of cleaning up the mess from the spray/texture on the walls, then we will paint, put down carpet, and be done!  Can you believe it?  The boys are excited to have their own space and SO AM I!  Here are a ton of photos to catch you up.

Framing up for the room, sheetrock ready to go on.

Sheetrock is up

Looking back toward the stairs

checking out the cool 'secret tunnel'  :)
You may remember we are doing something a bit different... we are putting the room walls about 3 feet away from the exterior wall to give us a hallway/access to all the plumbing and heating, and because we periodically have a few small leaks so this will provide an easy way to take care of things.  Plus, the boys think it will be really fun to incorporate the tunnel into their playing!!

you can see the frame of the wall going up between the two sides of the basement -
will no longer be open to both sides

We chose to have a texture spray on the walls so that we wouldn't have to sand and
get the nasty dust all through the house.  This is what it looks like (before painting).

This will be so nice! My friends did that same type of texture on their walls and it looks great.
