Sunday

Jonathan and Jackson
Sunday was Jonathan's first time to acolyte at church.  He did a great job.  The only (slight) glitch was that there were a bunch of pumpkins on the floor right in front of where the candles are and it made it almost impossible to reach the lighter up high enough to light the candle.  Luckily, Keith H. was right behind him and gave him a little help.  Keith chuckled afterward that *he* was barely able to reach it himself!  Those darn pumpkins!  :)  Jonathan was feeling pretty good about the morning and we celebrated by going out to lunch at King's Buffet.

After lunch a few of us (me, Jackson, Mama, Julie, and Anna) went to the high school production of "Annie Get Your Gun".  It was a tremendous performance and I have to say that the young lead actress was incredible!  Her voice was perfectly on key for every note of every song!  I don't think I have ever seen a high school actress in such control of her voice.  Plus, she brought a lot of spunk to the role of Annie Oakley.  It gave us the feeling we should hang on to the program because "this girl is going somewhere!"

It was nice to see Sally and Toni at the play.  Toni was the stage manager extraordinaire.  She kept them all in line and received her own applause when she single handedly managed a difficult scenery change, staple gun in hand!  :)  Way to go, Toni!

Then home to decide on carpet for the basement.  Mama and I spent Saturday going to 3 (count em, 3) places that sell carpet and checking out samples.  We have narrowed it down to 2 choices... which would you choose?

We are looking at the middle one and the one on the right.  The middle one is a pretty carpet but it may very well blend in too much with the wall color.  The one on the right provides a nice contrast and will hide dirt/spilled soda, juice, etc. much better.  What do you think?  It is exciting to think that the basement room will be done for Christmas.  It will be a great place for all the cousins to hang out.  The boys are VERY excited!

Tell Jonathan that I have trouble with reaching the candles myself when I acolyte...but that may be more of a function of having a 6 foot 7 priest who does not notice such things!
