Thanksgiving Anniversary

Thanksgiving is one of my favorite days of the year.  I love the meal, I love the family time, I love the focus on being thankful and sometimes, I even get to celebrate my wedding anniversary on Thanksgiving.  That is one of the perks of getting married on the Saturday after Thanksgiving... sometimes you get to cook a huge meal for lots of folks on your wedding anniversary.  (Yes, that was said with a teeny, tiny bit of sarcasm...)  ;)  Actually, it isn't too bad to make Thanksgiving dinner around here.  Between me, Mama and Julie no one has to do too much.  It is a pretty good setup.

Daddy has been so busy lately with his new job that he hasn't had much time to ride.  So, I was especially glad to see him enjoying a quiet ride around the farm this morning on Governor.

Jennifer was able to come up for the holiday weekend and she was a tremendous help in the kitchen.  Of course, we were both quite motivated to make the yummy pumpkin cheesecake!  Somehow, cooking and baking your favorite foods makes the job so much easier!  :)

We gathered at Julie's house for the meal.  Anna's friend, Lauren, came in on the train from Chicago to spend the weekend.  They sure do miss each other since Lauren moved away.

Wow!  Look at this spread!  Yum-O!

(The pumpkin cheesecake was still in the fridge)

We spent the afternoon laughing around the table (and eating, of course!)  And, at precisely 3:00 pm we all took a moment to remember a cold, snowy Nov. 27 just 15 years ago...

Certainly that day and every day since has been filled with Thanksgiving.  It seems quite natural to share our anniversary with this holiday of gratefulness.

That evening we took the leftovers to Mama and Daddy's house and had a very special treat - a video chat with James!  We got to visit with him for about an hour.  That was truly the highlight of the day.  We miss him so much!
