Helping Dad

Jackson has been working hard around the farm.  He is such a big help to Marvin and is taking on more and more responsibility.  He loves this place so much and wishes there was a way to make a “career” out of it.  Oh, how I also wish that were possible.  He would love to be a farmer.... but we don’t have enough land to truly do that for a living.  As for horses, the family rule is to “try to lose the least amount of money possible”.   :)  Not exactly a ringing endorsement for career choice, huh?  We are encouraging him to work toward a future career that will allow him to afford the hobby of the farm/horses.  That is his dream..... and I want that for him so much.

In the meantime, he is learning much, working hard and having a blast.  He is very into “purposeful work”.  He wants to be useful - and he IS!  What a neat guy he is becoming.  Makes a Momma proud.    :

Maybe consider an ag degree? (Ask Jennifer about that.) Or work with the Conservation Dept? Hmmm. Jackson, you have plenty of time to decide!!!

My stepbrother has a degree in agri-business. He spends nearly all of his time in the fields as a consultant, but gets paid from the company he works for (Monsanto). He grew up on a farm also...
