Sunday evening we had a big gathering here for dinner. We had all
the family out here at Willis Creek Ranch, plus Carlos & Chris and
their kids, Marco & Maddy Rose, plus a friend of Anna’s. We were
definitely “cozy” at the table with all 14 of us! :) I joked that I only
have 14 glasses when ALL are washed.... so, that is the limit. We
can never have more than 14 over! :) Whew... just made it!
James and Carlos share a love of the Marines so they had a lot to chat about and catch up on. We enjoyed listening in to their tales and stories. Many were quite hilarious - particularly, those having to do with Marine boot camp. :) It also just reinforces the fact that *I* am NOT Marine material! Like that was ever in question.... :)
Kristine’s pictures of her barbecue made me long for grilled hamburgers.... so we went ahead and did it. Of course, Marvin had to bundle up in his winter coat and even had to move the grill to the south side of the house to keep the wind from blowing out the fire, but we did it!!! :) We had the season’s first grilled hamburgers and brats - YUM! We also had Aunt Ilene’s Potato Salad, Prairie SchoonerBaked Beans, Fresh Fruit Salad, lettuce salad, sauerkraut (for the brats!), deviled eggs and even basic mustardy potato salad for Jackson. (he doesn’t care for the other kind, crazy boy!) Chris and Carlos brought yummy “No Sugar Added Apple Pie” from Hy-Vee. So, even though it was still freezing cold outside, we managed to make it feel like a picnic inside! :)
Of course, after dinner Chris played with Lady a bit. Once again, Chris has that magic touch! Jonathan even commented after Chris had left that “Since Chris was here playing with Lady, I’ll bet Lady will be okay with strangers for at least a month!” :) I imagine he is right!

It looks like so much fun! I would love to have big get-togethers, but our house is just way too tiny. Hopefully our next house will have room!
